Listen, Barnaby...

*Put on your sunday clothes,There's lots of world out there*
So I was watching HBO late last night and I came across one of my all time favorites. Hello, Dolly! The movie that captured so many hearts more than 41 years ago, and still holds mine. But I'm worried that Dolly, and all other wonderful ladies are losing the screen to something that seems to always leave something to be desired.
As a child I was always put around "old tv", and I LOVED it! I always loved the big dresses and wonderful music. Not to mention the ultimately better singing voices of leading ladies like Barbra Streisand, Leslie Caron, and Mary Martin. I mean, South Pacific?!?! You can't get any better!
So as i watch all of the previews coming out for kids, I really am starting to wonder if real culture and fine music and acting as a art in general is slowly dissipating with-in our culture. Sure, Despicable Me looks funny (I reviewed this movie way back in January, and believe me it's come a long way), and you really can't beat Toy Story, but Step-Up 3-D....? REALLY?!?
Think about it, when was the last time a decent, whole-hearted, family fun musical came out. A movie that would remind people to just enjoy being alive, because well, your alive.
In my opinion, with the way things are getting, don't you think we should try to teach our kids just to be happy to be happy. Not to be obsessed with the cool new toy, or completely overtaken by special effects, and can't even follow the entire story line because they can't compute both the ausomeness of special effects and the actual story at once.
Maybe I'm just ranting, but don't you think we should learn to love life
